About Us

This office dates back to the year 1912. E.E. Armstrong purchased the first insurance agency from J.G. Johnstone. Mr. Armstrong was then joined by his son-in-law, Auldred Breadner in 1946 to then become Armstrong & Breadner Insurance Agency. We then forward to August 1, 1969 when Donald T. Ritchie purchased the business and changed names to Donald T. Ritchie Insurance Broker Ltd. On November 30, 2000, upon the retirement of Don Ritchie, his son David Ritchie and partners Brian McLeod, Todd Beasley and Paula Mardon purchased the business.

Effective July 1st 2020 we were pleased to annouce that our office merged with McDougall Insurance Brokers, allowing us more company choice and more resources to better serve our clients. McDougall Insurance has grown to approximately 40 locations across Ontario and represents most major Insurance Companies.

The independent broker system is and will remain the best consumer choice for buying insurance. We want to be the broker of choice. Our mission is to provide quality customer service, integrity, product knowledge and competitive premiums through stable insurance companies.

Our office is quite proud of our companies long standing relations. This agency/brokerage has been doing business with Northbridge Insurance, formerly Lombard Canada (originally Phoenix of Canada) since 1926 and Economical Insurance Group since 1947. More recently we are also proud representatives of The Gore Mutual Insurance Company (Canadian owned and est. in 1839), and Algoma Mutual Insurance. We are excited to build relationships with the new Markets we now represent.
